Why We Give
We believe that our financial expenditures are a reflection of our heart values. Jesus said, “Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” (Matt. 6:21). We desire to honor God in how we spend our money, and supporting the local church is part of that.
In 2 Cor. 8, the apostle Paul rejoiced in the generosity of the Macedonian churches who, despite their persecution and extreme poverty, overflowed with financial support for the hurting church in Jerusalem. He then encouraged the Corinthian church to likewise excel in financial generosity toward others, referencing the ultimate example of generosity: Jesus Christ. He “was rich, yet for [our] sake became poor, so that [we] by his poverty might become rich.” We desire to follow the examples of Christ and the Macedonians by giving sacrificially, personally, and cheerfully, not reluctantly or under compulsion (2 Cor. 9:6-7).
We also believe that giving should be private, between the giver and the Lord. We offer online giving through the Church Center app to increase privacy. Additionally, none of our pastors know how much anyone gives. The only person who knows is our Office Manager, in order to send out charitable contribution letters at the end of each year.
